Game Preview: The No. 20 University of North Georgia women's basketball team will debut in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight with a matchup against No. 24 and fifth-seeded Lubbock Christian in the final quarterfinal Tuesday night.
Rankings:Â North Georgia is currently No. 20 in the final D2SIDA National Poll and receiving votes in the latest WBCA poll released on March 11. The Nighthawks claimed the No. 2 seed in the Southeast Region as the automatic bid-getter from the Peach Belt Conference.

Last Time Out:Â North Georgia defeated Lander in the regional final last week, 73-62, leading for the entire second half en route to the program's first regional title. Julianne Sutton was named the regional's Most Outstanding Player while Tamera Thorpe was also named to the All-Tournament team.

Scouting Lubbock Christian: Lubbock Christian won the South Central region and are 29-5 on the year. The Lady Chaps are ranked No. 24 in the nation by D2SIDA and No. 25 by the WBCA. Tuesday night's matchup pits together two of the best shooting and defending teams in the nation. UNG holds opponents to just 34.7 percent shooting, tenth in the nation, while the Lady Chaps shoot it at a 48.5 percent clip, fourth in Division II. On the other side, UNG is the 15th best shooting team in the nation at 45.8 percent, while LCU defends teams to a 35 percent shooting performance.
Tournament Outlook:Â Tuesday's winner will take on the winner of No. 1 Drury and Nova Southeastern Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. North Georgia is 6-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament games and is unbeaten in opening round games. The Nighthawks are 2-1 in regional semifinal games in program history and are 1-1 in regional finals. UNG has never advanced to the Elite Eight round in the NCAA era.
National Stats: UNG ranks in the top 10 nationally in total assists, assists per game, blocked shots, blocked shots per game, defensive rebounds per game and field goal percentage defense. Out of the eight teams remaining in the hunt for a national title, UNG has the best rebounding margin, coming in at fifth in the nation.
