YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - In their third Peach Belt match of the year, the No. 10 University of North Georgia women's tennis team comfortably brushed aside Young Harris Saturday by a 6-1 score.
The Battle of Blood Mountain matchup proved to hold little drama, as the Nighthawks dropped just one line to rout the Mountain Lions. The partnerships of
Holly Bennett and
Vaishali Jorge and
Emma Etelalahti and
Adrienne Bofinger secured the doubles point with the clinch coming from the No. 1 pair, 6-2.
The middle of the lineup proved to be clinical, as the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles lines finished first to clinch the match for North Georgia.
Cibeles Zuddy's opponent retired with the Nighthawk player leading, 6-0 ,1-0, and the freshman pairing of Claudelle Labonte Frey and Rafaella Villanueva both won without dropping a single game, Villanueva finishing last to win the all-important fourth point.
The Nighthawks now sit at 11-1 on the year and return to the match court Sunday as they are set to battle Queens at the UNG Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
