No. 13 Women's Tennis Upsets No. 9 Florida Southern, 6-1

TAMPA, Fla. - Securing their first top-10 win in program history along the way, the No. 13 University of North Georgia women's tennis team blew past No. 9 Florida Southern, 6-1, Wednesday on the road.

The Nighthawks got off to a hot start, courtesy of wins from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Holly Bennett was reunited with partner Vaishali Jorge at No. 1 doubles, and the move paid off, as they cruised to a 6-2 win. This move meant the partnership of Emma Etelalahti and Adrienne Bofinger returned, and they clinched the point after a 7-6 victory.

UNG showed no signs of nerves in singles as Bofinger and Bennett won quickly to give the Nighthawks a 3-0 lead. Bofinger won 6-1, 6-2, and Bennett sharply followed, completing an unbeaten day out after recording a 6-2, 6-4 win. Cibeles Zuddy then clinched the tie with a 6-0, 6-3 win, moving North Georgia to a 9-1 record.

The Nighthawks' spring break road trip culminates Thursday morning as they finish with a match against Bluefield State. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
