ORLANDO - The No. 13 University of North Georgia women's tennis team kicked off their spring break trip with a convincing 4-1 win over Northwood Sunday.
Competing at the USTA National Facility, the Nighthawks were in a battle early, having to rely on a deciding doubles match. With the doubles tied at 1-1,
Emma Etelalahti and
Adrienne Bofinger pulled out a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the point.
Following this win, UNG carried their momentum into singles play, starting much quicker.
Vaishali Jorge won early at No. 1 singles and Claudelle Labonte followed suit, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.
Holly Bennett ended the match shortly thereafter, clinching the match, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
The Nighthawks are back playing on Tuesday, against Texas-Tyler at 3 p.m.
