GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The No. 13 University of North Georgia women's tennis team shut out the NAIA's No. 5 ranked team in the nation, Brenau, Monday afternoon, 9-0.
The Nighthawks got off to a quick start, winning all three doubles matches, including a tiebreak win at No. 1 doubles as
Holly Bennett and
Vaishali Jorge won, 8-7 (7-2).
UNG continued its quick work on the way to the clinching point. Jorge won 12 straight games to win in straight sets at No. 2 singles shortly before
Adrienne Bofinger clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top singles spot. North Georgia won all six matches in straight sets, most of them having one of the two sets end with 6-0 scores.
The Nighthawks will next battle Saint Leo on Saturday at Columbus State. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
