No. 3 Softball Throws Two No-Hitters in Final Day of Florida Tech Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Kylee Smith tossed a no-hitter in game one while five pitchers combined for a second no-hitter as the No. 3 University of North Georgia softball team swept the final day of the Florida Tech Invitational, knocking off Lynn and Converse Sunday.

GAME ONE - UNG 5, Lynn 0
UNG got the scoring started early on a Kaylee Womack single that scored Hobby Gregory in the first inning. One inning later, the Nighthawks doubled their lead on a Gregory double that plated Alishia Frierson. In the fourth, North Georgia added another as Kelly Kahlert sprinted home on a Knight error to make the score 3-0.

Frierson put an exclamation mark on the game in the seventh with a two-RBI triple to right center that scored Kaylyn Anthony and Katelyn Perry to bring the game to its final score.

Smith (8-0) earned the win, allowing just one walk and another to reach on an error while striking out 13.

GAME TWO - UNG 6, Converse 0
Again, North Georgia started quickly, getting Olivia Sinquefield on with a single and advancing her around on a stolen base and a Gregory RBI single to put UNG up, 1-0. The Nighthawks added another in the opening inning on a Womack sacrifice fly that doubled the lead for UNG.

The Nighthawks doubled their lead again in the second on a two-run blast by Adella Carver before scoring the final two runs of the game in the fifth. Kahlert stole home after moving to third on a Cheyanne Mosteller bunt. Anthony pushed Mosteller across for the game's final run on a double to left center.

Laken Chambers (4-1) earned the win, combining for a no-hitter with Abbie Crawford, Riley Patton, Bria Bush and Lauren Beshears, all of which threw one inning in the win.

NOTES
- Frierson went 4-for-4 at the plate while Gregory and Womack each went 3-for-6 to lead the Nighthawks at the plate.
