FLORENCE, S.C. - Freshman
Chloe Savage was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor, scoring a team-high 17 points as the No. 12 University of North Georgia women's basketball team defeated Francis Marion, 81-53, Thursday night.
After FMU led by scores of 2-0 and 4-2, the Nighthawks went on an 8-0 run to claim the lead for good. North Georgia led by 11 after the first quarter before extending their lead to 18 by halftime.
In the second half, North Georgia's defense kicked in, limiting the Patriots to just eight points in the third quarter as the lead continued to grow for UNG.
NOTES
- Savage played just 20 minutes off the bench, pulling down seven boards to go with her career high 17 points.
- Three other Nighthawks finished in double figures:
Abbie Franklin with 14,
Imani Arnold with 13 and
Julianne Sutton with 11.
- The Nighthawks shot just under 59 percent from the floor, assisting on 25 of their 33 made baskets. North Georgia also had 50 points in the paint in the win.
