Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 18 Women's Soccer's Season Comes To A Close in 1-0 Loss to Wingate

HICKORY, N.C. - A 54th minute goal was all Wingate needed to punch their ticket to the Southeast Regional final as they beat the No. 18 University of North Georgia women's soccer team 1-0 Sunday afternoon on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne.

After a scoreless first half, Wingate pushed forward and crossed a ball in from the left side that bounced around and was last touched by a Nighthawk player, giving Wingate the 1-0 lead.

North Georgia looked to equalize and gave the Bulldogs some close calls, but the goal would hold up in the end.

NOTES
- The Nighthawks finish the season at 16-3-2, marking the fourth time in program history that UNG has had 16 or more wins in a single season. UNG was unbeaten at home this year for the first time since 2015, going 8-0-1 on the home pitch. The Nighthawks also finished with a program best 13 clean sheets.

- The Nighthawks were held to just seven shots in the contest, directing just two on target. Taylor Malasek was the only player with multiple shots, taking three and both shots on goal.

- This was North Georgia's sixth appearance in a regional in program history with each appearance including at least a win in the opening round.
