LUMBERTON, N.C. - Four University of North Georgia cross country runners were named All-Conference, highlighted by
Karmen LeRoy being named the Peach Belt Freshman of the Year, as the Nighthawks finished second in the PBC Championship race Saturday at Luther Britt Park.
Bree Hammond led North Georgia in the race, earning a fifth place finish with a time of 19:00, while
Aleah Johnson finished three seconds behind in sixth. LeRoy came in at 10th place, finishing as the fastest freshman in the field with a 19:19 5K time.
Also earning All-Conference honors was
Olivia Henry who finished in 11th place, less than a second behind LeRoy.
Flagler won their second consecutive team title, defeating UNG by just nine points. Augusta finished in third, nearly 30 points back of North Georgia, followed by Columbus State and UNC Pembroke.
The Nighthawks will now prepare for the NCAA Regional, hosted by Wingate, in two weeks.
