Corbitt Walks Off GSW To Sweep PBC Series

DAHLONEGA Conner Corbitt blasted a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth to give the trailing University of North Georgia the full series sweep over Georgia Southwestern, 5-3, Sunday in Bob Stein Stadium. UNG gets back to .500 in league play with the sweep

Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth when the Hurricanes claimed their first lead of the series. GSW's Jason Baita boarded the bases first with a single to right and advanced to second off a sacrifice bunt from Kole Clark. He then advanced to third off a single from Josh Logan. With Hurricanes now on the corners, Andy Moore's sacrifice fly to right scored Baita to give GSW the 1-0 lead.

Andres Perez responded with a solo shot over the left field fence, his fourth of the series, to tie it for the Nighthawks, 1-1.

The ninth inning saw a painstaking brawl, as the Hurricanes reclaimed the lead. A two-run homer off Parker Morrison from GSW's Jared Jones to dead center lifted the Hurricanes past the Nighthawks, 3-2.

Crews Taylor led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk, putting the tying run on base for the Nighthawks. A sacrifice bunt from Chase Sudduth put Taylor in scoring position for Perez, who reached base on an intentional walk. With runners on first and second, Corbitt stepped up to deliver his walk-off shot over the left field fence to win it for the Nighthawks, 5-3.

NOTES
- Morrison was awarded with the win as the closing pitcher.
