No. 33 Women's Tennis Downs No. 44 Young Harris

DAHLONEGA - Vaishali Jorge won a three-set thriller after dropping the first set, clinching the win for the No. 33 University of North Georgia women's tennis team over No. 44 Young Harris, 6-3, Friday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.

Felicia Baratta and Adrienne Bofinger got the Nighthawks off on the right foot with an 8-0 shutout victory at No. 2 doubles. After YHC tied the match up with an 8-1 win at the third flight, Holly Bennett and Jorge gave UNG a 2-1 advantage with their 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Bofinger and Bennett each won their singles matches in straight sets to put the Nighthawks within a single point of clinching, setting up the stage for Jorge. After a 6-2 first-set loss, the freshman from London fought back to force a third set, 6-4. Jorge and Laura Sanchez each held serve until the final set when Jorge broke serve to clinch the Nighthawk win.

After UNG had clinched, Baratta fell in a three-set thriller of her own after forcing a third set with a 7-3 tiebreak win in the second set. Cibeles Zuddy won her match at No. 5 singles in straight sets to finish the match and give the Nighthawks their sixth point.

North Georgia will face Lander in Peach Belt Conference action on Sunday in Greenwood, South Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
