DAHLONEGA - Tamera Thorpe and
Amber Skidgel each recorded double-doubles as the No. 10 University of North Georgia women's basketball team finished the 2018 calendar year with a 63-56 win over Augusta Wednesday afternoon.
The Nighthawks held a lead as big as eight points in the first half, but the Jaguars clawed back into the game and took a four-point lead at 54-50 with just six minutes to play.
From there, Thorpe and Skidgel took over, scoring 10 of the final 13 UNG points while the Nighthawks gave up just two points over the final six minutes to seal the win.
NOTES
- Thorpe led all scorers with 20 points while pulling down 11 rebounds. Skidgel finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while
Julianne Sutton also finished in double figures with 12 points. The sophomore finished one block short of a double-double.
- North Georgia held a 42-25 rebounding advantage over the Jaguars. The Nighthawks also outscored Augusta in the paint, 32-12.
- AU's Cameryn Wilson led the way for the Jags with 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
