No. 2 Baseball Uses Pair of Two-Run Hits to Get Past Emmanuel, 4-1

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — The University of North Georgia baseball team wasn't able to find many timely hits on the night but a strong outing from redshirt-senior Blake Gaubert made the four runs scored more than enough to take down Emmanuel (Ga.), 4-1, in Friday night's series opener. The Nighthawks improve to 38-8 on the year with the victory.

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first taking advantage of Phillip Swindell's leadoff double to right center, moving him to third on a groundout and scoring on a sacrifice fly to right.

Connor Hoover would answer for North Georgia in the bottom of the second with two-run double off the wall in right center that plated Andres Perez and Devin Gearhart.

Michael Bell drove in the final two runs of the game in the seventh with a two-run single up the middle to bring home Michael Gouge and Hoover, giving the game its final score, 4-1.

NOTES
- Blake Gaubert (2-0) had an extremely efficient outing, pitching into the ninth with just 86 pitches. Gaubert allowed just one run on five hits and a walk, while striking out four.

- Jack Fleming picked up his fourth save of the season with a walk and a strikeout against the four batters he faced in the ninth.

- Bill Leroy was the only Nighthawk with multiple hits on the game. The freshman went 3-for-4 on the evening.

- UNG improves to 21-3 all-time against Emmanuel with the win.
