DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Junior left hander
Daniel McCrary shutdown the Augusta offense Saturday allowing just three hits in his seven-plus innings of work, helping the No. 3 University of North Georgia to a 1-0 win over Augusta to clinch the series victory. North Georgia improves to 20-4 on the year with the win and is now in sole possession of first place in the Peach Belt Conference at 7-1.
The lone UNG run came in the bottom of the fourth as
Michael Gouge reached on a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a passed ball before being driven in on an RBI single to right center by
Steven Tomlinson.
The Nighthawks had a other chances throughout the game, leaving 10 runners on base.

Daniel McCrary (5-1) had another impressive outing allowing just three hits in his 7.1 innings of work. The three Augusta hits were all ground balls that found a hole in the North Georgia infield. The junior's ERA dropped down to 2.32 with the quality start.

Anthony Carco and
Andres Perez were the only batters to collect multiple hits in the game with two each.
- This is just the second time in school history that UNG has started a season 20-4 and the first time in the NCAA-era. The last time North Georgia opened the season 20-4 was 13 years ago in 2004 when UNG won 24 of 25 after being swept in the opening series of the season to get off to a 24-4 start.
