No. 3 Baseball Completes Series Sweep of Augusta with Another Shutout

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Senior right hander Dylan Peppers had a dominant day on the mound for the third-ranked University of North Georgia baseball team, allowing just three hits with eight strikeouts in his eight innings of work, helping the Nighthawks to a 7-0 win over Augusta Sunday at Bob Stein Stadium. UNG advances to 21-4 overall in the season and hold their top spot in the Peach Belt Conference at 8-1 in league play.

The Nighthawks took full advantage of a troublesome start for Augusta's Will Thompson. The Jaguar starter walked the first three UNG batters in the bottom of the first inning and Steven Tomlinson would make him pay for the free passes delivering a towering grand slam to left center to put North Georgia up 4-0.

Conner Corbitt extended the lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third with his two-run homer over the wall in left. The Nighthawks went on to score what would be the final run of the day in the fourth, plating a run on a double play.

NOTES
- Dylan Peppers (2-1) seemed to fit in well to the Sunday starter role, mowing down eight Jaguars while allowing just three hits and a walk.

- North Georgia extends its winning streak to 11 games with the victory. It is the longest winning streak in the NCAA-era for UNG and the longest since reeling off 14 straight in April 2005.

- UNG hit two more home runs in today's contest. The Nighthawks lead the PBC in homers with 44 on the season, which also ranks fourth nationally.

- UNG improves to 24-10 all-time against Augusta with the series sweep.
