DAHLONEGA, Ga. — The University of North Georgia women's basketball team was able to push past Georgia College, 60-54, in front of a packed house for Athletics Hall of Fame Induction and Homecoming festivities Saturday afternoon in Memorial Hall. With the conference victory, the Nighthawks improve to 9-4 in the Peach Belt and 17-5 overall.
The game got off to a rather slow start, scoring just 48 points between the two teams in the first half, but the game was not without challenge from either team. Possession went back and forth between teams, eventually giving the Bobcats the 26-22 advantage at the half.
Georgia College held the lead for the entire third quarter, led by Sydney Cleveland who went 3-for-4 with eight points from the field. However, the Nighthawks had not lost hope, regaining the lead deep into the fourth quarter with a three-pointer from
Jordan Livesay that electrified the home crowd. After the Livesay basket, the Nighthawks held off last-ditch efforts to stop their momentum, but the Bobcats would not be up to the task, falling 60-54.
