DAHLONEGA, Ga. — The University of North Georgia men's basketball team was able to fight off the last minute attack of the visiting Bobcats of Georgia College in an exciting 64-60 victory in front of a standing room only crowd for homecoming festivities in Memorial Hall Saturday afternoon. With Peach Belt victory, the Nighthawks improve to 8-5 in conference play, trailing just one game behind division leading Columbus State.
After a back and forth half with five ties between the two teams, the Nighthawks went to the locker room with a narrow one-point lead due in part to the eight points and two assists from
Tyler Dominy.
The ball game continued to sway back and forth well into the second half until a draining three-pointer from
Sean Brennan solidified the final campaign by the Nighthawks with just over eight minutes left in the game. The Bobcats, however had no intentions of giving up, bringing the game within just two points with 13 seconds remaining.
The effort would not be enough though, as a series of free-throws from Brennan would bring an end to all Bobcat hopes, ending the matchup with the final 64-60 score.
