AIKEN, S.C. - Trailing 2-0 through 27 minutes of play, the University of North Georgia women's soccer team scored the final three goals to complete a 3-2 come-from-behind win at USC Aiken's Pacer Pit Saturday afternoon. The Nighthawks improve to 5-2-0 in PBC play with the win.
The Pacers opened the scoring in the 15th minute on a Sarah Moore goal that was followed by a penalty kick goal in the 26th minute that put North Georgia in an early 2-0 hole.
Rosie Embley got UNG on the board in the 33rd minute after
Brynn Finneran passed the ball across the top of the penalty box for a wide open shot. The Nighthawks tied the match in the second half when
Michelle Allen took a free kick and sent it to
McKenzie Anderson for a header goal in the 60th minute.
Renee VanHorn scored the game-winning goal in the 70th minute on a header assisted by Finneran. The Nighthawk defense held the Pacers to just two shots after the go-ahead goal to earn the win.
NOTES
- VanHorn's game-winner was the third of her career and was her ninth goal of the season.
- North Georgia has now won 10 games in a row against the Pacers and has not lost to USC Aiken in 11 years.
- Finneran's two-assist match was the second of her career. Her first came during her freshman year against Georgia Southwestern.
