No. 17 Women’s Soccer Battles Lenoir-Rhyne to 1-1 Draw

HICKORY, N.C. | Rachel VanHorn continued her hot start to the 2016 season with a breakaway goal in the sixth minute but the offense would go without a goal for the remainder of the match as Lenoir-Rhyne scored a second half goal to tie the No. 17 University of North Georgia women's soccer team and force the eventual draw, 1-1.

L-R's Aqsa Mushtaq found the equalizer in the 51st minute after making a couple of moves to avoid UNG defenders to score, giving the game its final 1-1 score.

NOTES
- UNG forward Rachel VanHorn continues to pace the Peach Belt Conference in both goals (four) and points (nine), after scoring the lone goal tonight.

- The Bears goal in the 51st broke a UNG shutout streak of 320 minute consecutive minutes without giving up a goal in a regular season contest that stretched back to the 2015 season. The last goal scored against the Nighthawks in a regular season match came in the 90th minute against Lander last season.

- L-R continues to hold the slight advantage in the all-time series with a 1-2-2 mark, although the record from the last three meetings holds a Nighthawk lean at 1-0-2, including last year's come-from-behind win in Dahlonega.

STAT OF THE DAY
8 – Bears goalkeeper Andrea Leano proved her worth with eight saves against the talented Nighthawk attack in Wednesday's match.
