DAHLONEGA | Senior
Kevin Glendon picked a great time for his first collegiate goal as the defender connected on a header in the 87th minute to give the University of North Georgia men's soccer team it's first game-winning goal against a Top Five opponent in program history, as UNG defeated No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-2.
After a scoreless first half the Nighthawks took their first lead of the 2016 season when
Ivan Acimovic took advantage of a PBA defensive miscue, drilling a shot into the near corner in the 47th minute as the Sailfish failed to clear the ball out of a crowded box.
Palm Beach caught a break in the 55th as the 'Fish were awarded a penalty kick after a UNG foul in the box. Lucas Coutinho connected on the PK to tie the game at 1-1. The two teams traded goals in the next 10 minutes with
Matt Shaftoe scoring in the 60th and PBA's Charlie Dennis once again finding the equalizer in the 64th.
Defense ruled the field for the next 20 plus until Glendon's head put UNG on top for good, 3-2.
