YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of North Georgia women's basketball team pulled away from host Young Harris in the fourth quarter to secure a pivotal 55-42 Peach Belt Conference West Division win on Wednesday evening in YHC's Basketball Arena. The Nighthawks used an 18-1 run late in the game to earn the victory and improve to 14-8, 6-7 PBC on the season.
UNG outscored the Mountain Lions 26-11 in the final 10 minutes to complete the season sweep. YHC slides to 9-11 overall and 4-9 in conference play.
Kelsey Hutchins and
Cierra Jackson combined for 27 points, while
Molly Rainwater added 12 by going 4-of-6 from 3-point land.
Jackson rounded out her 14
th double-double of the season, and 20
th of her career, with a team-best 13 rebounds.
Meredith Tarver was the lone Mountain Lion to score in double figures with 13 points. Jenny Vernet grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds for Young Harris.
NOTES- Young Harris finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds, including 14 in the first half.
- UNG held the Mountain Lions to a dismal 23% (16-of-70) from the field.
- By virtue of the regular season sweep, the Nighthawks secured a full point in the Battle of Blood Mountain.
