GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander used a balanced offensive attack that placed five players in double figures at the Bearcats posted a 76-66 Peach Belt Conference win over the University of North Georgia women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in LU's Horne Arena.
The Nighthawks committed a season-high 32 turnovers, including 18 in the first half, but trailed by just six (38-32) at the break.
After trailing by as many as 14 (32-18) in the first half, UNG closed on a 14-6 run fueled by eight unanswered points to trail by just two possessions at half.
The Bearcats stretched their second half lead to as many as 21 (70-49), but North Georgia responded with a 10-0 run to get back into the contest but could only get as close as eight.Â
Cierra Jackson and
Lauren Pounds scored 14 points apiece to lead the Nighthawks.Â
Jordan Livesay and
Kelsey Hutchins added 11 and 10 respectively. Livesay made good on half of her four attempts from behind the 3-point line.Â

The loss drops UNG to 13-8 overall and 5-7 in PBC play while Lander improves to 15-6, 9-3 PBC.
NOTES- All 10 of Hutchins' points came in the second half after not getting off a single shot attempt in the first two quarters.
- Jackson's double-double was the 13
th of the season and 19
th of her career.
- Crum added seven rebounds and six steals for Lander, both team-highs.
- Pounds' 14 points set a new season-high for the senior and marked the third time this season she has scored in double figures.Â
- Lander's win snaps a three-game winning streak in the series with Lander, but the Nighthawks continue to hold the all-time edge, 11-10.
NEXTNorth Georgia will make the short trip over Blood Mountain on Wednesday, Feb. 3 to take on Young Harris with the tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
