No. 2 Nighthawks Erase Two-Goal Deficit; Down Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-2

DAHLONEGA | Senior midfielder Jade Pennock scored two second half goals, including the game-winner off a free kick to help lift the No. 2 University of North Georgia women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. The Nighthawks improve to 7-0-0 on the season while the Bears fall to 6-3-0.

Lenoir-Rhyne scored the only goal of the first half as Leah Mullins scored her 10th goal of the season for the Bears after finding a quick ball from Garcelle Alequine in the 23rd minute.

Alequine found the back of the net herself in the 53rd minute to give Lenoir-Rhyne a 2-0 lead.

The Nighthawks started to chip away at the Bears lead in 58th minute as Pennock scored finishing a ball from a quick attack as Rachel VanHorn dribbled straight in the box to pull North Georgia within one.

UNG found the equalizer in the 76th minute when Alex Bowen scored her first goal of the season finishing a ball from Jacy Ramey in a crowded six-yard box.

Pennock became the hero of the night in the 87th minute blasting a free kick over the head of the L-R keeper into the top right corner to score the game-winning goal.

NOTES
- The Nighthawks have had a flare for the dramatic in their last two games scoring the game-winning goal in each contest in the 87th minute.

- Tonight's game was the first time UNG had come back to win after going down 2-0 since Sept. 21, 2013. North Georgia defeated Young Harris on the road in overtime in that game to win 3-2.

- Senior Jade Pennock became UNG's third player to score multiple goals in a game this season. Mollie Arrendale scored twice against Valdosta State in the season opener, while Jacy Ramey scored a pair of goals against Queens.

- With the win, the Nighthawks will have a perfect record against their non-conference opponents in the regular season in 2015. It is the third time in the NCAA-era that UNG has claimed perfection over non-conference opponents in the regular season with the other two times being in 2011 and 2012.

- UNG continues to climb in the polls, coming in at No. 2 in this week's NSCAA DII Top 25. It is the highest ranking in program history.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"Our team came alive in the second half after Lenoir-Rhyne got the better of us in the first half," UNG head coach Chris Adams said. "It's a little ironic after they came back and beat us in penalty kicks after we were up on them 2-0 in the NCAA Tournament last year. I guess you can say we atoned that tonight."

STAT OF THE NIGHT
TWO – Jade Pennock scored the first and last goals of the night providing the spark in the 58th and finishing the amazing comeback in the 87th to give UNG the victory.
