DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia women's basketball team used a solid second half effort to take down Young Harris (9-11, 6-7 Peach Belt), 59-56, Wednesday evening at Memorial Hall. The win advances the Nighthawks to 18-4 on the year and 10-3 in PBC action.

After a back-and-forth first half, Young Harris took a 29-25 lead into the break. UNG would outscore the Mountain Lions by seven in the second half to take the three-point victory.

While North Georgia struggled at times to get shots off, the Nighthawks shot 42 percent from the field on the night when they did.
The game, which saw neither team enjoy more than a six-point lead at any point, featured 12 lead changes and 12 ties.
Ciera Johnson gave the Nighthawks the lead for good as she hit an old-fashioned three-point play to give UNG a 47-46 lead with 6:03 left. Two free throws by Stephanie Huffman and a layup by Kelsey Hutchins extended their lead to 51-46 with 3:16 to play.
Huffman led the game in scoring with 22 points and also posted a game-high eight rebounds. Rachel Harrell and Peyton Robertson each scored 14 for YHC.

The Nighthawks return to action on Saturday hosting Montevallo. Tipoff for the UNG Athletics Hall Of Fame Day matchup is set for 1:30 p.m.
