Men’s Soccer Falls to USC Aiken in Regular Season Finale, 5-1

AIKEN, S.C. | The University of North Georgia men's soccer team came up short in their final regular season competition of the 2015 season, falling to USC Aiken, 5-1. The Nighthawks slip to 4-11-2 on the season and 2-6-1 in conference action.

After scoring just before the half, USC Aiken came out and padded their lead with goals in the 67th and 84th minutes to take a 3-0 advantage. North Georgia found an offensive spark in the 86th minute as Matt Shaftoe found the back of the net, however the Pacers would answer scoring two goals in the 89th minute.

NOTES
- Today's game was just the second this season in which UNG allowed five or more goals, allowing six to Palm Beach Atlantic - one of the nation's leading offenses - on opening weekend.

- USC Aiken extends a slight lead in the all-time series now holding a 6-8-1 advantage.

- The late goal by Matt Shaftoe broke a two-game drought in which UNG had not scored.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will travel to Young Harris on Tuesday in a Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal matchup. The Mountain Lions won the regular season matchup, 4-1.
