AUGUSTA, Ga. | The University of North Georgia women's basketball team battled through a hard-fought game to eventually take down Georgia Regents Augusta (2-9, 1-3 Peach Belt), 63-60, in overtime Wednesday evening at Christenberry Fieldhouse. With the victory, the Nighthawks advance to 12-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference action.
Kelsey Hutchins and
Cierra Jackson paces UNG with 12 points each on the night, while
Stephanie Huffman led the team in rebounds with eight.
North Georgia shot over 40 percent from the field on the night, including 6-for-14 performance from behind the perimeter. The Jaguars failed to convert on 12 of their 13 three point attempts, but outscored UNG in the paint by a 32-20 margin.
The overtime win marked the second for the North Georgia women in their last three games.
The Nighthawks continue the four-game long road swing on Saturday, traveling to Morrow to take on Clayton State. Tipoff for the women's game is set for 1:30 p.m.
