Men's Soccer Suffers 8-2 Setback At Young Harris In PBC Tournament

YOUNG HARRIS, Georgia | The University of North Georgia men's soccer team saw its 2014 season come to an end with an 8-2 Peach Belt Conference Tournament loss at top-seeded Young Harris.  The Nighthawks made their 10th consecutive PBC postseason appearance and end the season with a 4-12-2 overall mark.

Young Harris, ranked No. 2 in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II poll, needed less than a minute to open the scoring as Kendall Carballo scored just 44 seconds into the contest.

The Mountain Lions went on to add four more goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead at intermission.

After YHC extended the lead to 8-0, North Georgia was able to avoid the shutout with a pair of late goals.  Luis Huertas used a helper from Daniel Bowl to score his second goal of the season in the 75th minute before an unassisted tally by Eric Carrion rounded out the scoring just over four minutes later.  The score was a team-leading seventh goal for Carrion.

Ilija Ilic led Young Harris with a hat-trick and a pair of assists.

The win also gives Young Harris a complete point in the Battle of Blood Mountain after the Mountain Lions swept both men's soccer contests in 2014.
