WXC Set To Toe The Line At NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

MONTEVALLO, Alabama | The University of North Georgia women's cross country team is set to participate in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday, November 22.   The 6K race is hosted by fellow the Peach Belt Conference's University of Montevallo with the pistol scheduled to sound at 11:45 a.m. at the UM Cross Country Course.

The women's race will include 30 teams and 223 student-athletes. All teams and student-athletes participating are from the NCAA Division II Southeast Region, which includes the Peach Belt Conference, the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas.

The top three teams from each of the eight regions will automatically advance to the NCAA Division II Championship finals. The top three individuals who are not part of a qualifying team will also automatically advance to the championship finals.

The advancing teams and individuals will advance to the NCAA Division II Championship meet on Saturday, December 6 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.  The championship meet is in conjunction with the 2014 Division II National Championships Festival, which will feature national championships in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. Bellarmine University and the Louisville Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts for the event.

North Georgia is currently ranked third in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast region poll behind PBC champion and host Montevallo and defending regional champion Wingate. 

The Nighthawks finished registered a program-best runner up finish at the 2014 PBC Championship.

UNG finished seventh at the 2013 NCAA Division II Southeast regional in Charlotte.
