Justin Miles

Justin Miles is entering his fourth year with UNG and first as the head men’s tennis coach.

Miles spent his first three seasons in Dahlonega as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis teams. In a groundbreaking move from the UNG athletic department, he was promoted to the Nighthawk head men’s tennis coach in June 2025.

With Miles’ selection as the head coach of the men’s program, and the promotion of former head coach Kent Norswortthy –now Director of Tennis and head women’s coach– North Georgia has two tennis head coaches for the first time in school history.

Miles takes over as the head coach of the UNG men’s tennis program and will steward one of the fastest rising squads in the nation. He leads the Nighthawk men’s team after being named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Assistant Coach of the Year a season ago in 2024.

In just three seasons in Dahlonega, Miles quickly earned recognition as one of the best assistant coaches in the country. He was also named the ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024, as the Nighthawk staff swept the coaching honors with Norsworthy being named Southeast Region Coach of the Year.

Miles has worked very closely with both men's and women's tennis programs at UNG and is an integral part of their record breaking success. The Nighthawks are a combined 99-41 (.707 winning percentage) in the last three years with Miles on the coaching staff.

Miles arrived at North Georgia after serving in the private sector as the Director of Tennis at Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla. He has 15 years of experience both coaching and playing NCAA Division I tennis with his previous coaching stops including Jacksonville, Georgia Southern and Morehead State.

At Jacksonville, he served as head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs before they were discontinued in 2012. Prior to his time on the First Coast, Miles was the head men’s tennis coach at Georgia Southern for ten years.

Miles graduated and played collegiately at Eastern Illinois where he earned his Bachelor of Science before receiving his Master’s in Sports Administration from Morehead State.

He has also maintained a United States Tennis Professional Association Top Level Elite Tennis Teaching and Coaching certification since 2012.
