Sierra Campbell enters her seventh season as the head coach of the University of North Georgia women's golf program. Campbell comes to UNG following a highly successful stint as the men’s and women’s golf assistant at NCAA Division II power Dallas Baptist.
At UNG, Campbell has quickly built the program into a rising contender as one of the biggest names in collegiate women’s golf.Â
In the 2024-25 season, the Nighthawks continued a trend that Campbell set from her first season in Dahlonega by shattering numerous program records throughout the course of the year. At UNG’s 11th Annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial at Achasta Golf Club, the Nighthawks finished in second place behind No. 1 Anderson while breaking the program's 18- and 54-hole scoring records in the process. The Nighthawks then went on to earn their highest WGCA Coaches Poll ranking in program history, coming in at No. 11 nationally in the fall. The historic season was capped off by UNG’s first ever appearance in the NCAA South Regional as the Nighthawks hosted the event at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga. It was there that UNG made a miraculous showing against the best regional field in the country and carded back-to-back birdies on the 18th hole to force a three-team playoff for the final National Championship qualifying spot. The season ended with senior Jadin Ware becoming the sixth WGCA All-American in program history.
Campbell has broken new ground in almost every season during her six-year tenure in Dahlonega. After previously only finishing as high as third place in the PBC Championship prior to Campbell’s arrival, UNG has now recorded four third-place or better finishes which includes three Runner-up showings most recently in back-to-back seasons in 2024 and 2025. In four of Campbell’s six seasons steering the squad, the Nighthawks have finished the year ranked in the top 25 nationally by Scoreboard by Clippd, highlighted by the highest final ranking in program history in 2025 at No. 15.
Campbell hit the ground running when she took over the Nighthawk program in her first season. She led the Nighthawks to their first ever national ranking, coming in as high as No. 15 in the WGCA national poll in the 2020-21 season. During her first year at the helm, the team broke every scoring record in the UNG record book and earned the program's first-ever Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American in Megan Sabol, earning second team honors. Also In the 2020-21 season, Sabol and freshman Maddie Ananthasane were selected as individuals for the NCAA South Regional with Ananthasane qualifying to compete for the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Individual Medalist honors, making her the first women's golfer in program history to advance out of the regional round.
Â
Prior to taking over at UNG, in her two seasons at DBU, Campbell assisted head coach Kenny Trapp in guiding the team to 17 tournament victories including the NCAA Division II West Region Championship in both 2018 and 2019. Â Respected as a tireless recruiter, Campbell signed or committed four top-150 recruits in the country all while helping DBU sustain at top three national ranking for back-to-back years.
In 2018-19, the second-ranked Lady Patriots team reached medal match play at the NCAA Division II National Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla. after finishing seventh in stroke play. Â She helped mentor three WGCA All-Americans and guided DBU to 10 tournament titles on the year.
Campbell is from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and attended Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.  During her time at MSU, she earned Lone Star All-Conference honors in 2015, 2016, and 2017, won the Lone Star Conference Championship in 2015 alongside her team and also individually, and was named the Marie Morgan Award recipient in her senior spring season honoring MSU’s top female student-athlete.Â
Campbell also coached numerous junior golf camps, women’s clinics, after-school golf academies, and Christ Academy golf clinics in her time with Wichita Falls Country Club.
Campbell graduated from Midwestern in 2017 with a Bachelors in Marketing and has completed her Master’s Degree in Sports Management at Dallas Baptist University.
