The Latest on Trushel
The 2023-24 campaign was Trushel's first in the blue-and-white since transferring from USC Aiken. As a PBC All-Conference First Team selection the year prior, Trushel joined the Nighthawks with big expectations. She met those expectations by being a consistent threat and one of the best players on the floor all season long. Trushel played and started in 28 of 29 games and led the team in scoring and rebounding at 15.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest. Her 37 steals were tied for the team lead with junior guard Ansley Hall and she also ranked in the top three in both assists and blocks. Her shooting numbers were outstanding as well. Trushel shot at a 48.4 percent clip from the floor and 33.9 percent from downtown. At the free throw line, she followed up last season's numbers in which she led all of NCAA Division II with a 91-for-108 performance at the charity stripe. Her 84.3 percent mark from the foul line ranks as the fourth-best single season free throw percentage in program history. Outside of the box score, Trushel's season was highlighted by numerous stellar performances. She made a buzzer-beating layup at home to take down Georgia College and recorded 10 games with 20 or more points, headlined by a season-high 27 points against historic Nighthawk rival Young Harris. At the end of the year, Trushel was named to the PBC All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season.

How Trushel got to UNG
Trushel arrived in Dahlonega as a junior transfer after three outstanding seasons at PBC foe USC Aiken from 2020-23. In her final season with the Pacers (2022-23), Trushel was a PBC All-Conference First Team selection and WBCA Southeast All-Region Second Team member. She led her team at 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while leading all of NCAA Division II in free throw percentage at 93.5 percent. In 93 attempts, Trushel missed only six foul shots, a stunning mark. After graduating in only three years at USC Aiken, Trushel entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining. She departed Aiken, S.C. in search of a school that possessed her desired masters program. After facing UNG for three seasons, Trushel was intrigued at the possibility of joining the Nighthawks for her final two seasons. The Nighthawk coaching staff reached out to Trushel after the 2022-23 season. It was then that Trushel weighed her options and upon visiting Dahlonega decided to commit to UNG for the remainder of her academic and athletic career.
