Lucas Hargrove is entering his third year as Assistant Coach of the University of North Georgia women's basketball program, serving as recruiting coordinator. He joined the UNG staff after playing three years professionally between the National Basketball Association and in Europe.
While UNG head coach Buffie Burson may have given Hargrove his first coaching appointment, he is no stranger to the hardwood having been a high school standout in South Carolina, where he gained All-State honors his senior season, averaging 15.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.2 blocks for Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, S.C.
Hargrove went on to play collegiately at Auburn University, lettering all four years for the Tigers and started all 32 games his senior season. That year he led Auburn in rebounds, avering 7.0 a game and also averaged 12.8 points per game.
During his time on the Plains, the Tigers made the postseason once, reaching quarterfinals of the National Invitational Tournament in 2009.
The Pontiac, S.C., native is a 2010 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration.
Hargrove and his wife LaToya have two daughters, Leila and Lyssa Jordan.
