Amber Skidgel

Skidgel enters her sixth season on the women's basketball coaching staff and third as a full time assistant following a two-year stint as a graduate assistant.

In Skidgel’s six years on the bench, the Nighthawks have earned five NCAA postseason appearances including a program-best NCAA Final Four appearance in 2021-22. The Nighthawks have totaled a 140-37 record and a quartet of Peach Belt Conference championships since Skidgel has joined the coaching ranks.

In the 2024-25 season, UNG swept the conference championships with a regular-season and tournament title before hosting the 2025 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional where it made a run to the Sweet 16.

In the 2020-21 season, UNG won the PBC Tournament with Skidgel on the staff, before sweeping the PBC regular season and tournament championships the following year in the 2021-22 season.

In each of the first four years of Skidgel’s tenure as an assistant, the Nighthawks suffered five or fewer losses the entire season, culminating in the best record in program history at 31-3 in the 2024-25 season.

In her three years as a player at UNG, Skidgel surpassed 1,000 points while helping lead UNG to back-to-back PBC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, consecutive NCAA regional finals appearances and the program's first ever NCAA Southeast Regional Championship in the 2018-19 season.

Skidgel averaged 12.6 points and 4.5 rebounds over her three-year career in the blue and white. The Bethlehem, Ga. native ranks second in program history in career three pointers made (201) while holding the top spot for threes made in a single season, as she knocked down 81 triples in her senior campaign in 2019.

She did not miss a single game in her career, starting all 98 games from 2016 to 2019. She went 79-19 in that span and won five different championships with the program.

In addition to her accolades on the court, Skidgel was a three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Bronze Scholar and a two-time PBC All-Academic Team member.
