April Byerley joins the UNG softball program for her first season in Dahlonega in 2021-22.
Byerley comes to Dahlonega from Southeastern Louisiana where she served as the Player Development and Camp Coordinator since 2019. In her time with the Lions, she coordinated camps and clinics while helping with strategic planning, group management, operations and administration. Serving primarily with pitchers, Byerley saw two no-hitters for the first time in a single season during the 2021 campaign and coached the pitcher with the 14th lowest ERA in 2020.
Prior to her time at SLU, Byerley volunteered for the 2019 season at Spring Hill College, helping lead the team to the SIAC Championship by developing and managing the pitching staff. She served for seven seasons as an assistant coach at Niceville High School in Florida after her collegiate career ended.
Byerley played collegiately at South Carolina for two seasons after transferring to Columbia from Northwest Florida State. She graduated from USC with a degree in Experimental Psychology.
