How Drake got to UNG
Maddox Drake joined the Nighthawks in 2024 after an impressive junior golf and high school career. Out of Prince Avenue Christian School in Oconee County, Ga., Drake was three-time Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Champion. His team won the 2021, 2022 and 2023 state championship titles while Drake finished T59, T29 and third respectively on the individual leaderboard. Despite his team not winning the title in 2024, Drake finished third in the tournament for a second consecutive season. On the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour, Drake showed and impressive ability to compete with some of the best junior golfers in the region. He made the cut in all six tournaments he participated in, finishing T13 or better in five of the six. He came in second place in back-to-back events at the Wynlakes Junior Classic and and Mossy Oak Junior Classic in late June and early July of 2023. In that same season, Drake proved formidable at a course UNG is already familiar with in Chattahoochee Golf Club which is the host of UNG's Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate. He finished eighth out of 33 players in the Chattahoochee Junior Classic.
