How Chinpire got to UNG
Tyler Chinpire joins the Nighthawks this season after spending the last three years at Newberry College. The righty pitcher held a career 4.44 ERA in 164.1 innings with the Wolves since 2022. He transitioned into more of a relief role last season, making six of his 14 appearances from the bullpen for Newberry. In three years Chinpire has racked up 93 career strikeouts and opponents have only hit for a .250 average against him. As a freshman with the Wolves, Chinpire was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference Third Team. He improved on that honor the following season with an All-SAC Second Team selection and a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region Second Team. The Jupiter, Fla. native said he was impressed and swayed to Dahlonega by the genuine interest that the UNG coaching staff showed him when Chinpire announced his intentions to transfer.
