DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) Department of Athletics has announced that Michael-Vernon Conway will be joining the team as the department's Director of Facilities & Event Management.

Conway joins the Nighthawks after serving as the Graduate Assistant for Facilities & Events at Longwood, where he helped oversee game operations, facility management and championship events for the Lancers' NCAA Division I athletic program. He brings more than three years of Division I athletics operations experience and eight years of supervisory experience to North Georgia.

At Longwood, Conway played a key role in planning and executing the 2025 Big South Conference Cross Country Championships, coordinating site logistics while ensuring compliance with conference and NCAA championship standards. He also served as game manager for 14 sports, oversaw facility scheduling, coordinated daily maintenance and safety audits, managed DVSport replay and scoreboard operations and executed events within departmental budget guidelines.

Prior to Longwood, Conway spent nearly two years as the Quinn Buckner Fellow and Coordinator for Facilities and Event Management at Indiana. There, he served as the lead game manager for five NCAA Division I sports, including tennis, swimming and diving, soccer and water polo. He also managed parking and transportation logistics for more than one million annual patrons while helping maintain a customer satisfaction rate above 90 percent through operational improvements.

During his time with the Hoosiers, Conway helped lead operations for several marquee collegiate and national events, including the 2024 USA Diving Winter National Championships and the 2025 NCAA Women's Water Polo Championships. He also negotiated vendor contracts and streamlined event logistics, resulting in annual savings of more than $10,000, while recruiting, training and supervising student staff members.

Conway is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Longwood. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire in 2023.

Conway began his duties in Dahlonega on July 13.
