Poss, Reaves Headline Nighthawks’ All-PBC Selections

DAHLONEGA – With the Peach Belt Conference Tournament set to begin Friday, the Peach Belt Conference announced its 2026 softball All-Conference teams and postseason awards, with the University of North Georgia earning four major honors and placing six student-athletes on the all-conference teams.

Outfielder Sydnee Reaves was named the PBC Player of the Year, while Chloe Poss earned PBC Pitcher of the Year honors. In her second season at the helm, Brooke O'Hair was selected as the league's Coach of the Year, and Journey Roberts received the PBC Elite 18 Award.

The postseason awards are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches.

Reaves was unanimously voted the league's Player of the Year after producing one of the top offensive seasons in program history. The senior from Ashland, Alabama led the PBC in slugging percentage (.890), OPS (1.408), runs scored (58), hits (78), RBI (67), doubles (22), home runs (17) and at-bats (172). She also ranked second in the conference in batting average (.453) and on-base percentage (.518) while finishing fifth in stolen bases with 22.

Nationally, Reaves ranks third in Division II in total bases, tied for fourth in doubles, tied for seventh in RBI, eighth in slugging percentage, 10th in RBI per game and tied for 10th in home runs. She becomes the fourth Nighthawk in program history to earn PBC Player of the Year honors and the first since 2019.

Poss was also a unanimous selection after anchoring the Nighthawks' pitching staff throughout the season. The senior from Thomson, Georgia leads the PBC in ERA (1.85), strikeouts looking (53), saves (2) and wins (22). She also ranks second in strikeouts with 138 while sitting third in opposing batting average (.207) and innings pitched (166.2).

Poss becomes the eighth North Georgia pitcher to earn PBC Pitcher of the Year recognition, marking the program's 12th overall Pitcher of the Year award.

O'Hair earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding North Georgia to a 42-8 overall record and a 22-5 mark in conference play during the regular season. Under her leadership, the Nighthawks secured their 12th consecutive PBC regular season championship.

Roberts claimed the PBC Elite 18 Award, presented to the student-athlete competing at each conference championship site with the highest cumulative GPA. The junior started all 50 games for the Nighthawks this season and recorded a .223 batting average with 37 runs scored, 27 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 27 RBI. Roberts is the second Nighthawk softball player to earn the award, joining Laken Chambers in 2021.

North Georgia placed four players on the All-PBC First Team, including Marycille Brumby, Morgan Martin, Reaves and Poss.

Brumby hit .350 this season while ranking among the conference leaders in slugging percentage (.636), OPS (1.076) and home runs (10).

Martin posted a .381 batting average while ranking among the PBC's top performers in batting average, slugging percentage (.700), OPS (1.129), runs scored (41), hits (61), RBI (53), doubles (13) and home runs (12).

North Georgia also earned two All-PBC Second Team selections in Carleigh Knowles and Kayla Berry.

Knowles hit .362 with a .685 slugging percentage and 1.110 OPS while ranking among the conference leaders in runs scored (41), RBI (42), doubles (21) and home runs (9).

Berry finished second on the team with a .400 batting average and ranked among the PBC leaders in batting average, on-base percentage (.512), runs scored (49) and walks (27).

North Georgia opens play in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday as the No. 1 seed and will face No. 8 seed Flagler at 4 p.m. at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.
