No. 3 Nighthawks Set to Host No. 8 Francis Marion in NCAA Southeast Super Regional

DAHLONEGA – The top-seeded University of North Georgia (UNG) softball team will welcome No. 2 seed Francis Marion to Lynn Cottrell Park this week for the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional.

The best-of-three series will determine who advances to the NCAA Division II Softball National Championship Finals, scheduled for May 28 through June 3 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

North Georgia earned hosting rights as the No. 1 seed in the region and defeating Lander in the Southeast Regional Championship.

The Nighthawks will face Francis Marion, who defeated Lenoir-Rhyne in the second Southeast Regional.

North Georgia is 40-6 all time against the Patriots, with the Nighthawks winning the last matchup in last year's Super Regional that sent them to the NCAA Division II Championship.

Southeast Super Regional Schedule

Thursday, May 21
Game 1 - No. 1 North Georgia vs. No. 2 Francis Marion – 12 p.m.

Friday, May 22
Game 2 - Francis Marion vs. North Georgia – 12 p.m.
Game 3 (if necessary) - 2:30 p.m.

All games will be played at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega.

Daily tickets will include admission to all games played that day. A ticket or event credential will be required for entrance into the facility.

Fans are reminded that outside food, drinks and coolers are not permitted inside UNG Athletics venues past ticketing gates.

Tailgating will be allowed in designated areas only and must comply with university, state and local policies. Alcohol consumption is permitted only in approved tailgating locations and must be consumed responsibly.
