No. 3 Nighthawks Set to Host NCAA DII Southeast Regional

DAHLONEGA – The No. 3 University of North Georgia (UNG) softball team is set to host the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional from May 14-16 at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
Regional No. 1 features top-seeded North Georgia alongside No. 4 seed Columbus State, No. 5 seed Lander and No. 8 seed Lincoln Memorial.

The winner of the regional advances to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional on May 21-22 in a best-of-three series against the winner of Regional No. 2 at the highest remaining seed. The NCAA Division II Softball National Championship is scheduled for May 28 through June 3 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

North Georgia enters postseason play with a 45-8 overall record and a 12-game winning streak after claiming both the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Nighthawks finished 22-5 in conference play and earned six all-conference selections.

Chloe Poss was named Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, while Sydnee Reaves earned PBC Player of the Year honors. Brooke O'Hair was selected as the league's Coach of the Year.

Columbus State enters the regional with a 35-21 overall record after finishing as the runner-up in both the PBC regular season and conference tournament. The Cougars collected five all-conference selections.

Lander, making its second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, enters the weekend at 33-19 overall after advancing to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals. The Bearcats earned six all-conference selections this season.

Lincoln Memorial brings a 25-22 record into regional play after advancing to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship game with wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson-Newman before falling to Anderson. The Railsplitters totaled three all-conference selections.

Ticket Information
General admission tickets are $15. Seniors ages 65 and older, military members and students can purchase tickets for $10. Children in fifth grade and younger will be admitted free. Tickets include admission to all games played that day.

Parking Information
Fans are encouraged to park behind the outfield of the softball field or in the lot on the first base side of the facility located across Barlow Road. Event staff and UNG Public Safety personnel will assist with parking throughout the weekend. Fans should also be aware of additional traffic on campus due to UNG commencement activities.

Concessions
Nighthawk Concessions will be available throughout the weekend on the front side of Coleman Field House. Ballpark food options will include hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches and Philly cheesesteaks while supplies last, along with snacks, drinks and the Gold City Lager, the official craft beer of North Georgia Athletics.

2:30 p.m. – Game 4: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2
5 p.m. – Game 5: Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4

Saturday, May 16
Noon – Game 6: Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5
2:30 p.m. – Game 7 (if necessary): Played only if the winner of Game 5 defeats the winner of Game 6
