Columbus, Ga. – The No. 15 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's tennis team battled but was eliminated 4-0 in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Semifinals by No. 3 Flagler on Saturday afternoon.
The Nighthawks were forced to fight from behind early, as Flagler jumped out to an early advantage by securing the doubles point.
Franco Rebora and Marcos Castellanos were the first to fall at No. 3 6-1, but Pedro Liborio and Janos Varga steered the momentum back in the Nighthawks' favor with a 6-1 victory of their own at No. 2, leaving it up to No. 1 to decide the winner of the doubles point.
João Luis Silva and Ben Brandl put up a fight at No. 1 but ultimately saw their defeat 6-3 against Ilian Borlee and Simon Malis.
The Saints continued to roll in singles with three straight set victories to clinch a spot in the PBC Tournament Championship.
Rebora was bested at No. 5 in a 6-2, 6-2 decision, while Castellanos was outlasted by Malis, the 19th ranked singles player in Division II men's tennis, 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 6, Lleyton Beasley dueled with Filip Kana to keep UNG's hopes alive. After dropping the first set 6-1, Beasley and Kana went back and forth through the second before Kana rattled off three-straight wins to seal the deal, 7-5, for Flagler.
North Georgia looks on to the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament to continue postseason play. The selection show for this year's tournament will take place on Monday, May 4 at 8:30 p.m.
