ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team opened play at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Sunday with a team score of 7-over 295, sitting tied for sixth after the first round.

Georgia Southwestern leads the field after day one at 8-under 280.

Hunter Smith paced the Nighthawks with an even-par 72 and sits 13th individually. His round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 14th hole.

Garrett Horton and Grant Langford each carded 2-over 74s and are tied for 19th individually, while Colby Bennett posted a 3-over 75. Rhett Smith rounded out the scoring for UNG with a 4-over 76.

The second round of the tournament is scheduled to begin Monday.
