Multiple Top Finishes Highlight North Georgia’s Showing at Mountain Laurel Open

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Mountain Laurel Open, finishing third overall behind Reinhardt and Tennessee Wesleyan.

The Nighthawks were powered by a series of event wins and podium finishes, highlighted by dominance in the distance events. In the 1,500 meters, all four UNG competitors placed in the top 10, led by Ahna Hicks' first-place finish in 4 minutes, 52.80 seconds. Tessie Braman followed in second at 4:57.39, while Erin O'Brien (5:05.41) and Katie Harper (5:25.15) placed seventh and 10th, respectively.

Jordan Starling paced another standout performance in the 3,000 meters, winning the event with a time of 11:02.59. Harleigh Smith secured second place in 11:42.34, and Teagan Lamp completed a podium sweep for the Nighthawks with a third-place finish in 12:06.75.

Aubrey Dishman claimed the 400-meter title in 1:00.49, while Natalie Long added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.63. Emma Morrow (3:01.80) and Elizabeth Padilla Brun (3:08.10) placed 11th and 12th in the event.

The Nighthawks also earned a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of Dishman, Harper, Long and Braman combined for a winning time of 4:12.88.

North Georgia wraps up its regular season April 24-25 at the Catamount Classic.
