INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 3 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team will take on the nation's best this weekend at the ITA Division II National Women's Team Indoor Championship, a three-day event featuring eight of Division II's top programs and culminating in a national indoor champion.
North Georgia enters the tournament unbeaten at 3-0 in the young 2026 season, posting wins over Newberry, Erskine and No. 21 Auburn-Montgomery.
North Georgia is one of seven teams invited based on the final 2024-25 ITA Division II national rankings, joining a loaded field that also includes No. 1 Barry, No. 2 Nova Southeastern, No. 4 Flagler, No. 5 West Alabama, No. 7 West Florida, No. 9 Catawba and host Indianapolis.
Early-season consistency has powered the Nighthawks' start. Anastasiia Opolska and Olesya Stokusova are a perfect 3-0 in doubles, while Opolska (No. 1), Sofia Giraldo (No. 2), Stokusova (No. 3) and Linn Goerdes (No. 4) are each unbeaten in singles play. Emily Terek has also contributed three singles victories across the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
The Nighthawks open play Friday at 2 p.m. EST against seventh-ranked West Florida at Farmers Bank Fieldhouse. Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, with the championship match set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
