BEAUFORT, S.C. – The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team sits eighth in a 15-team field after the opening two rounds of the Golfweek Fripp Island Invitational on Monday.

The Nighthawks opened with a 10-over-par 298 before improving by nine strokes in the second round with a 1-over-par 289 to finish the day at 11-over 587.

Florida Southern leads the field at 15-under par, followed by Columbus State at 12-under 564 and Lee at 2-under 574.

Ashton Eubanks led the Nighthawks in the opening round with an even-par 72. Grant Langford and Jack Rowe each carded a 75, while Drew Sutherland finished with a 76 and Cole Packingham shot an 81.

Sutherland led North Georgia in the second round, carding a 2-under 70 that included an eagle on the 18th hole. Eubanks followed with a 1-under 71, while Langford finished at even par with a 72. Packingham shot a 76, and Rowe rounded out the lineup with an 82.

North Georgia closes out its fall season Tuesday with the final round of the Golfweek Fripp Island Invitational.
