No. 18 North Georgia Ties Program Record in Air Rifle Against John Jay

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 18 University of North Georgia rifle team swept both disciplines and posted a 4,678 aggregate to defeat John Jay and Coast Guard in a tri-match Sunday.

North Georgia totaled 4,678 points, built on a 2,318 in smallbore and a 2,360 in air rifle, tying a program record in the air rifle portion. John Jay finished second with an aggregate score of 4,239 (2,039 smallbore, 2,200 air rifle), followed by Coast Guard at 4,069 (1,999 smallbore, 2,070 air rifle).

The Nighthawks claimed the smallbore competition behind strong performances from Corbin Jockers and Ian Lyons, who each fired a 581. Lyons recorded a personal best, highlighted by a perfect 100 in the standing position. Brianna Walter followed with a 579, while Maya Cameron added a 577 and Abby Swain posted a 567.

North Georgia also took the air rifle discipline, led by Courtney Allison's team-best 593 with 42 centers. Jockers continued his strong day with a 590, while Alison Sutherlin recorded a 589. Swain followed closely with a 588, and Walter rounded out the top five for UNG with a 587.

North Georgia will travel to Murray, Kentucky, for a matchup against No. 19 UAB on Jan. 23.
