DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia (UNG) men's soccer sophomore forward
Maxwell Mitchell has been named as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week. Mitchell earns the first Nighthawk of the Week honor of the 2025-26 season after UNG completed its first week of fall competition last week.
Mitchell came up clutch offensively in both matches this week for the Nighthawks.
The second-year Nighthawk scored the game-tying goal in the 85th minute of the season opener on Thursday to help the Nighthawks draw 3-3 with No. 9 Coker.
Just a few days later, Mitchell broke through a defensive slug fest with a 79th minute, game-winning goal to lead UNG to a 1-0 road victory over Lincoln Memorial.
In just two games Mitchell has already scored half as many goals as he did last season. Three of his six total goals in his career have been game winners.
This is Mitchell's first time winning the Nighthawk of the Week award.
The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
