DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team has unveiled its schedule for the fall portion of the 2025-26 season.
Last year, the Nighthawks climbed to the highest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team ranking in program history as the No. 2 team in the country. UNG went on to win the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for a second consecutive season before advancing to the NCAA National Quarterfinals for a second straight year as well.
This year, the Nighthawks begin their fall season in Columbus, Ga. for the Columbus State Invitational Sep. 19-20.
The team will then head to Sumter, S.C. and the Palmetto Tennis Center for the ITA Southeast Regional Sep. 26-29.
Last season, seniors
Angelina Linnikova and
Carolina Reis finished the regional tournament as runner-up in women's doubles, eventually earning a spot in the national ITA Cup.
UNG will then participate in two more invitationals in preparation for this year's ITA Cup. Oct. 3-5 the Nighthawks make the trip to Rome, Ga. where Mercer is set to host the Gridiron Classic. Just a few days later UNG will compete in the Belmont Abbey Women's Invitational in Belmont, N.C.
The ITA Cup then begins on Oct. 16 and runs through Oct. 19. Players must qualify from the ITA Southeast Regional in order to make an appearance in the national tournament. Last season, Linnikova and Reis made a run in the women's doubles draw while Linnikova finished as the Women's Singles National Runner-Up, making the deepest individual run in the tournament in program history.
Finally, the fall season concludes Oct. 24 and 25 as the Nighthawks will host the UNG Tennis Fall Invitational at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
"I'm excited about our fall schedule," said head coach and UNG Director of Tennis
Kent Norsworthy. "We have a few new events scheduled that are going to be very competitive. I believe this fall will prepare us for the spring semester."
