DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) men's tennis team has announced its schedule for the fall campaign of the 2025-26 season.
This season will be the first for the Nighthawks under new head coach
Justin Miles. Miles was promoted from assistant coach to head men's tennis coach with a groundbreaking initiative from the UNG tennis program back on June 11.
"We are very excited to get this fall tournament schedule going," said Miles. "With this schedule we will get a lot of matches in for all of our players which should help us going into the spring semester."
The fall schedule begins with a pair of invitational tournaments hosted by regional foes. Aug. 29-30, Belmont Abbey will host the Labor Day Invitational. After that, UNG will head to the Columbus State Invitational Sep. 19-20.
Sep. 26 marks the beginning of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) fall tournaments. The ITA Southeast Regional takes place Sep. 26-29 in Sumter, S.C. at the Palmetto Tennis Center. Last season, junior
Pedro Liborio won the ITA Men's Singles Southeast Regional Championship, becoming the first player in program history to do so, qualifying for the national ITA Cup in the process.
After the ITA Regional, the Nighthawks will travel to Rome, Ga. where Mercer is set to host the Gridiron Classic. The two-day event takes place Oct. 3-5.
UNG will attempt to travel to Rome once again for the ITA Cup on Oct. 16-19. The Nighthawks will need to qualify from the regional tournament in order to earn a bid as Liborio did last season.
Finally, the fall season ends as the Nighthawks host the UNG Fall Invitational in Dahlonega at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Oct. 24-25.
