DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia rifle team had multiple student athletes honored with academic awards from the Southern Conference the league announced Wednesday morning.
Maya Cameron,
Courtney Allison,
Abby Swain,
Corbin Jockers,
Madison Kennedy,
Lindsey Slaten,
Alison Sutherlin,
Brianna Walter and
Elysa Walter were all honored with various awards.
Cameron was named to both the Academic All-SoCon Team and was listed on the SoCon Honor Roll. She is now a three-time SoCon Honor Roll nominee and has twice been named to the Academic All-Conference Team.
Allison also earned spots on both the Academic All-Conference Team and Honor Roll. The sophomore earned the first Academic All-Conference honor of her career as well as the second Honor Roll selection.
The same can be said for Swain who is now a two-time Honor Roll member after earning the first Academic All-Conference nod during her time in Dahlonega.
Jockers was the final student athlete to double dip in this year's academic awards. The 2023-24 Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholastic All-American has now earned four academic awards in just two years at UNG after also being named to the SoCon Honor Roll last season.
Kennedy, a fellow CRCA Scholastic All-American from a season ago, earned the second SoCon Honor Roll nod of her career Wednesday.
Slaten became the sixth four time SoCon Honor Roll selection in program history Wednesday. She has now earned a total of eight academic awards in her career.
Sutherlin, the 2025 SoCon Co-Freshman of the Year, earned the first academic award of her career with an Honor Roll selection Wednesday.
Elysa Walter was awarded the fifth academic award of her career and third Honor Roll selection with the announcement while her younger sister, Brianna, made her first appearance on the SoCon Honor Roll.
The Nighthawks have now had multiple student athletes selected to both the Academic All-Conference Team and SoCon Honor Roll in every season since joining the conference in 2017.
